3d snowflakes

Clickable for bigger, including extreme closeup.

Cross your eyes until the two images completely overlap in the center. While keeping the images fused, let your eyes focus on the image, so that the details become sharp. If you can do this, you will be able to see this scene in three-dee.

If you're having trouble, relax your eyes, so the two blurry images float around lazily. Eventually, they'll overlap - try to hold them there. Wait until the overlapping images pop into focus.

These are incredible.

Did you click your mouse three times to zoom way, way in? :-)

[identity profile] tinhuviel.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It's like looking into an entirely different, alien world.

I'm guessing you looked before your mojitos. Double vision makes them even harder to see. ;-)

[identity profile] serendipity.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! Yes, I did look before the (1) mojito I am currently enjoying, thankyouverymuch.

One of the teenagers peeked in and saw you staring cross-eyed at your computer screen with a drink in your hand. They quietly shut the door...

[identity profile] serendipity.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! I was total sleuth when I made the drink. It's actually just a mock mojito. First I poured the last of our Limeade into a glass. Then I very sneakily got out the rum and poured it into the Limeade, not even bothering to stir it. No one knows there's rum in this here glass of Limeade. However, I may me staring cross-eyed at the computer.

How beautiful! Clicking to the largest size really let's you see how one is formed.

[identity profile] marswalker.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Nice! I can't do the 3-d thing with them, but nice!

[identity profile] pondhopper.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. I really like the "extreme" close-up. Sort of like looking through a microscope.

[identity profile] likethebeer.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow - that's so cool. And such a great idea. I was looking at the snowflakes we had coming down yesterday and they looked kind of like these.

[identity profile] low-delta.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, big, soft clumps.

[identity profile] mummm.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
How cool!!! (in more ways that one...)
How did you do that?

[identity profile] low-delta.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
With Photoshop. ;-)

You take two photos that are looking at the same scene, but the POV is about 2-1/2 inches apart. That's about the distance between your eyes.

[identity profile] mummm.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what? I don't think the 3-D thing works on my computer. I just see four photos, but I like them.

[identity profile] low-delta.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I added instructions to the text above. Try this one:

It's relatively easy to see. Just line up the "two" clocks, and wait until everything comes into focus.

[identity profile] mummm.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhh... well I got the clocks to work for me!

And I got your cool snowflakes photos to work for me too, but now my eyes hurt from crossing them! *L*

Yeah, that can be a problem. You can't overdo it. At least you know how it works, now, and hopefully can do it again.
