We had the new high-efficiency fireplace insert installed on Thursday. A couple of days beforehand, they called to say the electrician wasn't available that day, so he'd have to come the next day. Fortunately, I was home on friday afternoon. Thursday, after the installers left, I noticed there were a couple of firebricks missing from the lining. I went over to get some on Saturday morning. They didn't fit. I had to go back and try again. The second ones worked. I couldn't fire it up that day. I finally got to try it today, and the blower doesn't run. WTF? I had trouble lighting the fire. That's going to take some practice. I need to make a bunch of kindling. It's a bit small inside. I may have to cut down most of my wood.

This thing has been a royal pain in the ass.

We'd been trying to watch Doctor Who on DVD. We'd had trouble a few times, where the DVD's wouldn't play well. The last series we got, we got about halfway through when they would no longer play at all. I didn't want to risk throwing more money away by buying it again, so for about a year I didn't do anything about finding a way to continue watching.

I finally decided to get a Roku, to hook my TV up to a streaming host. And I signed up for Netflix.

The kid at Best Buy told me that since I have a tube TV, and tube TV's don't have HDMI, I had to get Roku 1, which is not as good. When I got back home I discovered that my TV has HDMI ports like I thought, so the next day I went back for Roku 2. I was pulling into the garage when I realized I had forgotten to buy an HDMI cable, so the next day I went back for that. Three days later I'm finally hooked up. But since my stereo receiver doesn't have HDMI, the sound has to come through the TV. I should have stuck with the Roku 1.

Not as frustrating as the fireplace deal, but a little annoying.
