One of the guys who attended one of our previous tastings put on his own, so my dad and I joined him and four of his friends for another tasting. This was a very different experience. It was a boisterous group, for the most part. Actually it was only a couple of people, for the most part, but when someone was talking, not everybody was listening. We didn't get half of the information across, that we usually do. It was a loud room, too. But it was a good time. It was a fun group.
We had Dewar's 12, a blend. Auchentoshan, which was definitely better than previous, though flowery. Aberlour 12. Aberlour A'bunadh, batch 28. Very dark, very sweet. Glenlivet Nadurra. This was a different batch than I'd had before. It did not vaporize like earlier bottlings, and was much sweeter than previously. Chieftan's Caol Ila 17y (cask 4719, bott. n/330), Vom Fass Caol Ila 1996 13y cask strength. Both of these Caol Ilas were very different from each other. Ardbeg Uigeadal. Our host also put out a couple more bottles. I declined to sample the Glen Moray, but had a bit of the Glenfiddich 15, but after the other seven, it didn't taste like much.
My dad and I didn't leave until about 2:30.
