Feeling better, though. The medication is making me drowsy, as promised. I hope it helps me get to sleep tonight.

I went to the hardware store. That's the first time my car has been out of the garage in a week. I had a $7 coupon that needed to be used before the end of the year. Since I actually needed something, I didn't want it to go to waste. I got a Fiskars splitting axe. I tried it out, too. It does split much better than my regular old axe. I should get a hatchet too, to make kindling, but I can use the big axe for that too. I shoveled a bit, since there's still a big mess from yesterday. Probably shouldn't have done that. I napped for a while after all that was done.

We were supposed to go to a couple of parties tomorrow. One was canceled. They needed an excuse, and saw that I was sick. The other we'll just miss.

I'm still missing all those things I wanted to see and do this week. At least we're getting caught up on Doctor Who. We just got to where Peter Capaldi appears.

It's good to have a well crafted splitting axe. It's still a lot like work, though.

I've been looking forward to seeing Capaldi as The Doctor, but M'Luv isn't much for Dr Who.

Now that you're getting better I'm coming down with a cold. Hope it runs it's course faster than average.

I am SO GLAD you went to the doctor.... not doc who, but yanno, a REAL doc, and got diagnosed. I hope you get well fast enough to enjoy some of your vacation.

Best news I've read in a while...that you're getting better. We have a massive load of wood that needs splitting...are you up for the job?
;)

Hang in there Kevin, you'll get better soon. yah, I know, not in time to enjoy vacation.

I have a splitting maul for the big rounds of wood, not quite an axe, more like a sledge with a pointy end. This is a lot like what I have, but not quite it:

There's a new design that has an off-center payload to automagically torque the maul to split the wood faster.

I've also got a "small" chain saw, a Stihl, that works great. After being stored for a year it may take 4 or 5 pulls to start, but if it's been using any time recently it usually starts by the 3rd pull.

The Fiskars splitting axe works great. I just picked up a matching hatchet, to make kindling, but I don't like it as well. It doesn't match my splitting style, for the little stuff. It works best when whacking, and I don't want to swing hard at the little pieces, since my hand is right there.

I got an electric chainsaw last fall.
