Painting is done! Sort of. I hope.
I put a second coat of paint on the ceiling. I still needed to paint where the light fixture was, and as long as I was doing that, I figured I'd redo the rest. I took care to get the texture the same on all sections, so it looks even. For the most part.
Then I did the walls. I discovered the plaster still needed a tiny bit of patching in a couple of spots, so I did that. And taped the molding in a few places. The painted. I'm happy to have gotten it all done without running out of paint. I need to check it in the daylight tomorrow, to make sure everything is covered. The brush tends to smear the paint when I do the corners, and the white shows through.
And then we only need to do the south wall. It's getting repainted in the same color it already was. We still have some of that (from 20 years ago, before we moved in), and it's still good. And I'm sure there will be enough to do that one wall. But I'm in no hurry to do it. I got all the walls done where cabinets and appliances go, so that's good for now.
We took out the stove and fridge today. Tomorrow, after retouching if necessary, we'll clean up one more time, and bring the new ones in. After the upper cabinets go in, I can install the microwave oven. I'm thinking I'll wait until after the countertops go down before I hook up the dishwasher.
The cabinetmaker thinks he'll install "midweek." No word yet from the countertop people. Three weeks from now? We're calling the flooring people on Monday to have them take a look at their handiwork. We got a bill from them on Thursday, two weeks after installation. They never called to see if we were happy with it, or gave us care instructions or anything.
