I was gone for a couple of days.
Last week was incredibly busy. I had a big project that is rapidly falling behind. I kept making mistakes because I was so rushed. Other people were waiting for my models, so they could get on with their work. On Friday, I posted here a few times, but I never really had time to do much reading. I had to leave work early to get to training.
I had our district Boy Scout basic leader training. That was nice. It was nice to get out in the woods. There were four of us on staff for the weekend, and another four people came up on Saturday afternoon to help out. We had about thirty students.
I got a chance to preach about the environment. I was to teach the segment on nature and the environment. I started out with plant and animal identification. That is a rank advancement requirement for the boys. I told them that it was important for them to learn to watch for and identify plants and animals because it teaches them to be observant and to figure out what is going on. But then we went onto teaching respect for nature. Why must we respect it? Because we are part of "the environment". We must understand our connection to, and the only way to do that is to be willing to know it and understand it.
I wasn't sure when the training was supposed to be over. The indoor section was always finished by 4:00, so I told Cyn that I'd be back by five, but this outdoor session wasn't done until nearly 7:00. (dinner was involved) She got worried. She did the usual motherly "what if he's lying in a ditch somewhere?" She even called my mom to ask if she knew anything. :-D
Today, I will mow the lawn and stop by my mother's for a little while. Cyn is taking me out to eat (for my birthday), and then we're going to the symphony.
