the pledge
Oct. 17th, 2001 10:31 amRemember I mentioned that the Madison (WI) school board voted not to require the schools to say the pledge because it contained the phrase "under God"?
Now there is a huge and enthusiastic recall drive, trying to get certain board members removed. I think that is wrong. Those board members were (most likely) simply trying to avoid getting caught in a lawsuit. If the citizens think it was the wrong decision, they should state their case and try to get them to change their minds, not have them fired. That option should be reserved for wrongdoing, not for simply making the wrong choice. Especially one that had the district's best interests in mind.
